The Milam Appraisal District will be performing onsite property inspections for the 2020 appraisal year. Our appraisers will always be in a vehicle clearly marked, have business cards and a state issued license that can be shown upon request, and never request access inside any building. Local law enforcement is aware of the specific appraisers in an area and the vehicles they drive. Please contact our office with any concerns or questions.

2020 Notices of Appraised Value

Appraisal Notices for the 2020 tax year were mailed on Friday, May 1st with the exception of Business Person Property due to extending the deadline to May 15th. The office remains closed, therefore, protest must be submitted through our website, mail, email or fax. Due to the current pandemic the District will not hold person to person informals this year. We will continue to monitor the ongoing situation and will implement changes to address any health-related concerns; such as requiring protest hearings over the phone.

Appraisal Districts are sill mandated to appraise as of January 1 and will go through the same Comptroller-performed audits as in past years. There is currently nothing in the property tax law that allows the current pandemic to factor into this year’s property tax appraisal valuation. While we are all sympathetic to the situation we are facing, our hands are tied without legislative changes.

Staff will be available to assist the public Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM by phone, email, mail and fax.
